Recently a North Island Fishing boat was experiencing engine problems. It was suspected that the type of Engine Oil used was creating problems. It was decided that the engine would require a strip down.
This strip down was estimated to create a down time period of several days. The management was also concerned that the fishing was very good and they would lose considerable time not fishing.
It was recommended that a RVI inspection be carried out to the cylinder heads initially to check for any serious defects. The RVI inspection took just over half a day and fortunately no significant build up of oil deposits were found.
One day of down time was incurred and the boat was back out fishing the following day.
